Lucca Allen rode superbly in the latest round of the British Sportbike Championship which was held last weekend at the iconic 2.5-mile Donington Park circuit near Derby.
Building on the positive start to the season at Oulton Park, Lucca started round two of the series strong – running promisingly close to the top twenty in the ultra-competitive class.
Twenty second on the grid for race one after the sole qualifying session, Lucca was only a few tenths of a second away from the top fifteen!
Race one and Race two saw Lucca having to overcome a power deficit due to a broken exhaust which the team have already rectified ahead of round three. Despite the small issue, Lucca once again showed his natural talent and incredible determination as he raced to a double P18 in the weekend’s two races.
Close to championship points on both occasions the MPR Racing Suzuki mounted charger is looking ahead with confidence for round three at Knockhill in a few weeks.
Prior to the event Lucca took part in the World Premiere of FULL THROTTLE LIVE – the Ultimate Superbike show at the New Theatre Royal in Lincoln where he was interviewed by Michael Hill in front of a packed audience of race fans and industry professionals.
Lucca Allen:
“We had a few issues at Donington, but we did a great job, and we weren’t a million miles away. Our pace in race one was good. I was lapping close to the lap times that would have put me in the points, so this is really encouraging given the circumstances. We made a gamble on set-up for the second race which worked to a degree. I got hit on lap three which ripped a hole in the exhaust, so I spent the rest of the race trying to survive. I know we are going in the right direction – the team are amazing and we go again at Knockhill. Huge thanks to everyone who supports me. See you all in Scotland.”
