The annual British Superbike Championship visit to Thruxton, the fastest circuit in the UK, brought another double points finish for Lucca Allen, who consolidated third overall in the British GP2 series thanks to a fourth and third place finish despite a few tech gremlins on the opening day.
A steady start to the weekend saw Lucca building confidence and speed, ensuring he was once again in podium contention in both races when the lights went out.
Race one saw the #11 narrowly miss a top three finish whilst in Sunday’s second race there was no denying the FR89 Racing rider his fifth top three placing of the year.
Lucca now heads to the USA where he will visit the MotoAmerica championship in Mid-Ohio, before returning the UK for the next round of the British Championship at Cadwell Park.
Lucca Allen:
“We had some issues in qualifying so race one was my first proper seat time. I wasn’t too far away from my best time, which was encouraging, and we added more solid points to my tally in the championship. A third-place finish on Sunday was a good way to finish the weekend. Of course, it could have been better, but I was nursing a small issue which I know the team will fix for Cadwell. I enjoy it there and so I am looking forward to jumping the mountain again. Before that I am flying to Mid-Ohio to see MotoAmerica for the first time which I am excited about. It will be nice to see how things work in the US, and I am looking forward to visiting my first Superbike race overseas.”
