It was a character-building weekend for Lucca Allen at Donington Park this past weekend but despite some setbacks the #11 remains third overall in the British GP2 championship as the series moves north of the border to Knockhill.

Allen, who openly admits to enjoying racing at Donington Park was forced to race the last chance race due to the number of entries accepted for the event. Despite leading for much of the race Lucca relinquished P1 with a little over a lap to go. As any true racer would he went made a move for glory that on this occasion did not pay off, crossing the line in third.

Despite the understandable disappointment, Lucca leaves Donington Park to with his head held high and is full of optimism to return to GP2 podium successes when the series resumes.

Lucca Allen:

“Qualifying didn’t really go to plan. I struggled a bit which meant I was in the last chance qualifier. I was leading the last chance race for a while but lost the lead and I thought I would go for the win. I went for it but had to check up to avoid going down and finished third which unfortunately meant the end of the weekend for me. I am taking the positives though as I am still third overall in the championship and I know moving forward what I would and could have done differently and that is the important thing, I want to thank the FR89 Team for all their hard work. See you all in Scotland for the next one!”
