Lucca Allen kickstarted his 2024 British GP2 Championship campaign in fine style in the official BSB Test at Donington Park last weekend.
With less than a fortnight until the season opener at the Navarra Circuit in Northern Spain, the Team FR89 Racing rider, who finished third in the 2023 edition of the series, was on track for a shakedown ahead of what is hoped will be another front running season.
With several sessions over the two days, Lucca and the team spent the opening day working on set-up, improving the feeling he had with his Kalex machine. The final day brought saw more improvements with Lucca finishing inside the top three of the final GP2 classification. A confidence building start for the #11.
Lucca Allen:
“It was great to back on track after the winter break. We spent the test working through finding a set up and dialing in several new parts including new suspension. Sunday was a much better day in terms of pace than Saturday. I struggled a bit with the wind, but we weren’t looking for that one fast lap as the target was to work on the feeling with a view to the first round. I received a lot of riding advice from Fraser Rogers which helped me throughout the test. The team and I worked really well together, and I left Donington happy with what we had achieved. I want to thank Sarah and everyone at FR89 Racing for their efforts, to all my sponsors and supporters, and my family. Let’s have a great season!”
